PORTMARNOCK OLD
Portmarnock is generally considered to be the finest course in Ireland. It
is a majestic links, laid out on a peninsula some 10 miles north of
Dublin, and thus, in the classic links tradition, its playing is affected
constantly by the wind and weather.
The championship course is laid out in two loops over duneland, and means
that in any one round the player will be challenged by the wind from every
direction.
The championship course boasts many magnificent holes, one of the most
striking and demanding the 15th, a beautiful par 3 of 192 yards/176 metres
running along the shoreline.
